Parents Count Too (six pamphlets – NSW DET)

This series of pamphlets provides practical ideas to support children's mathematical thinking. The pamphlets provide guidance for lower primary students. While the ideas presented in the pamphlets are in-line with the curriculum being taught in primary schools, they are also based on around everyday events such as cooking, gardening or reading with your child or even on family outings, such as on a visit to the beach.  Brief descriptions of how children learn mathematical ideas have been included in each pamphlet. Knowing how mathematical knowledge develops can help in recognising situations where children's thinking could be encouraged.

These pamphlets on "Helping your child with..." are available in files that can be downloaded in 22 community languages. As well as English, the languages available are Arabic, Bosnian, Chinese, Croatian, Farsi, Indonesian, Japanese, Khmer, Korean, Lao, Macedonian, Portuguese, Punjabi, Russian, Samoan, Serbian, Somali, Spanish, Thai, Tongan, Turkish and Vietnamese.
